Ingredients:
Mutton - 1 kg
Crushed Garlic - half a cup
Chilly powder - 2 teaspoons
Coriander powder - 2 teaspoons
Turmeric Powder - As required
Cumin seeds *(Jeeragam) - As required
Aniseed *(Perunjeeragam) - As required
Chopped Ginger - 1 teaspoon
Pepper Powder - half a spoon
Cloves - 12
Cinnamon - 2 inch piece
Cardamom - 2
Onion - 2 cups
Tomato - 1 cup
Coconut milk - half a cup
Sugar - a pinch *(Optional)
Salt - As required
Oil - As required
Method:
### Grind the following ingredients into a fine paste:
*Chill powder
*Coriander powder
*Cumin seeds
*Aniseeds
*Chopped ginger
*Cloves
*Cinnamon
*Cardamom
*Salt
### Clean the mutton pieces and marinate in the paste for atleast 3 hours.
### After marination, heat oil in a pan and fry the onions until it becomes golden brown in colour.
### Add the turmeric powder and then add the chopped tomatoes and fry until the tomatoes become tender.
### Add the mutton to it and stir it for sometime.
### Add some hot water to the mutton and allow it to thicken.
### Add coconut milk to it and cook well.
### Fry the crushed garlic and add it to the mutton which is getting cooked.
### Remove the mutton after it is cooked, (ie) after the gravy becomes very thick.
### Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with parathas, rice, or chappathis...
